The evaluation process consists of several appointments and can take four to eight weeks to complete:
- Clinical Interivew (1-2 hours) - The initial meeting to gather background information and current concerns, identify medical necessity for testing, and develop the treatment plan (number & duration of subsequent appointments).
- Testing sessions - Depending on the referral question and availability, testing administration may either be completed in one appointment (of two or more hours) or two/three appointments (each of two or more hours) over the course of several weeks.
- Feedback session (1 hour) - Review results of testing and discuss recommendations.
Other factors can extend (or shorten) this process, including prior authorizations required by the insurance company, the provider's availability, and the referral question(s).
Generally, insurance will pay for some of the services. However, there may be a private pay portion if insurance does not cover all requested services. We require that individuals with commercial insurance provide a $250 down payment at the first testing administration appointment to cover initial deductible and coinsurance out of pocket costs.
Due to the specialized nature of evaluation services and time required to complete comprehensive evaluations, immediate appointments may not be available.

Play Therapy
Play therapy is a form of therapy typically used for children. It was developed around the 1900's and continues to be widely used today.
Play is a child's form of language and a great way for them to communicate and process their feelings. This modality of therapy allows a therapist to assist the child in addressing and solving their own challenges. Play can also be used for children to learn how to express feelings, develop problem-solving skills, learn how to relate to others, and modify behaviors.
Play therapy can also be a great way to connect with children in a way that feels safe because they are able to address trauma, fears, and interpersonal relationships in a third person setting. This can help decrease the fear or worry around these topics in order to start the processing journey. In addition, play therapy or filial play therapy can be used to teach parents a different way to engage and connect with their children. Play therapy not only includes toys but it can also include games, art, crafts, and role plays. The sky is the limit with play therapy!
Sandtray Therapy
Sandtray Therapy
Sandtray therapy can be used with both children and adults. It is a type of therapy that uses sand and miniature figures. It allows someone to create their own world in an expressive manner without having to verbalize while building.
In sandtray therapy, the therapist acts as an observer and then assists the individual in processing the world they have created. The individual is also able to make changes to their world once some of the processing has occurred as a way to allow them to find clarity or solutions to the problem.
