DULUTH CLINICAL TEAM
As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, I provide individual psychotherapy as well as psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology and have specialized training in the areas of neuropsychology, trauma, personality disorders, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Therapeutically, I typically work with adults on issues of complex trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, and general life concerns. As the wife of a Veteran, I also have a unique understanding of the challenges faced by our active military and Veterans and by those providing law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services. Finally, as a cancer survivor, I have a strong interest in helping individuals and family members psychologically and emotionally navigate this often overwhelming and difficult chapter in their lives. Outside of the office, I enjoy traveling, exercising, learning, reading, and spending time with family. I love being outdoors, whether it be gardening, sitting in the sun reading a book, working on a project in the yard, or taking my dogs for a walk.

If you have questions about the therapy or psychological evaluation process, I would be more than happy to arrange a phone call with you ahead of time to learn more about your needs and answer any questions you may have.

Services Provided: Individual Therapy (Age 18+); Psychological Evaluations (Age 6+); Neuropsychological Evaluations (Age 6+).  Dr. Overlie offers in-person and telehealth sessions.
I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma.  My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative and non-pathologizing.  Clients often find me because of my experience as a Certified Internal Family Systems Therapist (level 3) or Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. The models I use take us beyond traditional talk therapy and create space for you to notice what’s happening inside. By slowing things down and taking notice you can develop new ways of relating to yourself as well as others. Clients often report an increase sense of self-compassion, calmness, clarity & confidence.

I utilize various evidence-based therapies which include Internal Family Systems (level 3), Somatic Experiencing (SEP), & DBT. I am a Certified IFS therapist, Certified in Brené Brown’s Daring Way™, Rising Strong™ and Pia Mellody’s Post Induction Therapy, and enjoy facilitating experiential process groups.

My goal is to provide you with a safe & non-judgmental space to share your story, get curious about different aspects of yourself, process experiences & release long held burdens which will facilitate healing at a deep level.

Services Provided: Individual Therapy (Age 18+); Certified Internal Family Systems therapist, Certified Daring Way Facilitator; Certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Pam offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

Do you find yourself in a pattern of ineffective/unproductive behaviors? My main goal as a therapist is to help clients create change and create their version of a life worth living. It is imperative to treat all areas of who we are as a person including not only mental health concerns but also physical and spiritual health. Often an individual experiences weakness in one or all of these areas which can lead to an overall decrease in wellness. Clinically, my approach is from a cognitive behavioral (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) perspective. From these frameworks, we can identify maladaptive behavior cycles and change them to skillful approaches to bring about progression in your life.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I work with couples and individuals. I am able to work with children ten years and older. My practice areas are relationship issues, life transitions, trauma, personal guilt and shame, stress, codependency, avoidance behaviors, self-esteem, and personality disorders.

Outside of the office, I like to be outside. You can find me mountain biking, skiing, or running. Most of that time you will find me with my family out on an adventure. If you have questions about the therapeutic process or just want more information in general, call our office or email.

Services Provided: Individual Therapy (Age 16+); Couples Therapy.  Peter offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

I have had a passion for working with people since I was a teenager; now as a therapist, I get to do what I love while helping other people discover their own passions. I work with people ages 10 on up individually or within the family framework treating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, Borderline Personality Disorders, communication improvement and helping heal relationships. My approach is to be relational, validating and non-judgmental while maintaining a Holistic approach to therapy. I believe in balancing four main components of the body: our physical self, spiritual self, mental self and emotional self.

I am a DBT therapist and group leader working with individuals in understanding Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation and Distress Tolerance skills and how to effectively use these tools and strategies to help in everyday life. I also lead art groups to enhance accumulating positive experiences, creativity, and building mastery.

When I am not helping others on their path to healing, I enjoy travelling around the country and overseas. I love to cook, learn new things, and be outdoors as much as possible in the summer. I run 5Ks and have run 6 half-marathons. I have quite a bit of cultural experience which enhances my ability to connect to a variety of people.

Services Provided: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Individual Therapy (Age 10+); Family Therapy; Art Therapy Group.  DeAnna offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from University of Iowa and wrote my dissertation about substance use issues. I spent almost ten years working for the Human Development Center before moving to HP Psychological Associates 4 years ago.  I feel privileged that my clients allow me to be part of their healing journey and trust me with their stories. I love to learn and love the challenge of working with individuals whom others have seen as untreatable.

I have been specializing in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for the last 13 years and enjoy helping people with emotional dysregulation develop more control of their emotions and their unwanted or dangerous behaviors. I also specialize in working with trauma and have been trained in a number of approaches.  I am currently working primarily with the Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) model, a model developed by Janina Fischer, Ph.D.  This model integrates several trauma models, including mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, ego state techniques, and Internal Family Systems.  I prefer working with persons who identify as women and LGBTQA folks.

When I am not working I enjoy being outside in lovely Duluth and doing activities such as hiking, gardening, and making puzzles.

Services Provided: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Individual Therapy (Age 18+). Dr. Dhuse offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. My path to this profession included teaching elementary and middle school, Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS), and volunteering for hospice. I’ve lived in Minnesota, Tennessee and Colorado. While living in Colorado and teaching middle school, I earned a Masters Degree in School and Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I have studied child development, issues related to trauma, Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am prepared to work with people from the ages 12 - 112 experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns.

Connecting with you and addressing your concerns is the best method I can offer. I take my responsibility seriously to continue my education and study new treatment approaches; however, the beliefs, needs, and personality you bring to therapy are crucial to your success. I look forward to meeting you with authenticity and empathy.

When I’m not working, I love to knit, exercise, read, and be with my family.

Services Provided:  Individual Therapy (Age 12+).  Rachel offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

I believe that in order to address the problems of the mind, one must also address the problems of the body. Physical fitness and health are critical components to mental health. As a Marriage and Family Therapist my focus is on addressing the systems that affect our lives, which includes not only one's family system but also one's own biological system. Improve the body = improve the mind = improve interactions with others.

I have 18 years of experience working with children and families and this continues to be a passion for me.  I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and specialize in working with traumatized children (ages 6+) and families. I am also trained in Family Systems Trauma Therapy. In my years of working with children of all ages and genders, I have been highly successful in helping them feel comfortable opening up and processing their trauma. This specialty also emphasizes helping parents walk through this process with their children to be their strong support. I also have training in helping children and adolescents dealing with sexual behaviors.

In addition to children and families, I am also looking forward to working with adult individuals and families, including couples, with an emphasis on treating the whole person, including the mind, body and for some, the spiritual aspect.

When not working, I enjoy running as my primary form of exercise and specifically train for 5Ks and half Marathons. I also enjoy attending many local and state-wide sporting events. Although originally from Texas, I have developed a healthy excitement for UMD Bulldog Hockey over the past 14 years.

Services Provided: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Trauma Therapy, Couples Therapy, Adult Individual and Family therapy, Children's individual and family therapy (ages 5+), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).  Dan offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

One of the most important factors in therapeutic change is finding the right therapist for you. My goal as a therapist is to be present to all that you may bring to our sessions—your hopes, fears, sorrows, vulnerabilities, and most importantly, your strengths. I believe everyone has what they need within to make their next helpful choice or grow their next helpful inch, in order to ultimately get to where they want to be. Together, we will explore your experience of being you, so you can strengthen your relationship with yourself and live a life rich with meaning and fulfillment.

I incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches, including mindful self-compassion, the mind-body connection, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, to help clients navigate mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, burnout/stress, and trauma. I am trained in AIR Network for the treatment of childhood trauma and complex PTSD. With this approach, clients gain insight into their development and neurology and learn to use inner resources to rewire neural pathways and regulate the body. My passion areas also include working with 20-somethings entering adulthood, stemming from my work experience in college counseling, as well as helping Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) embrace their trait of sensitivity and thrive in an overstimulated world.

Outside of the office, I love to read, write, relax at the lake, and spend time with my family and puppy.

Services Provided: Individual Therapy (Age 16+). Kelsey offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I work from a viewpoint that focuses on personal strengths and resiliency, forming a collaborative relationship, and providing a safe, non-judgmental space. I earned my Master’s Degree in Counselor Education in 2007, then my Clinical Counseling Endorsement in 2015, both from The University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. I worked as a School Counselor before becoming a Clinical Counselor, and have worked in clinical settings with children, adolescents, families, and adults for 8 years.

I offer individual therapy services for youth and adults, as well as provide support and education to parents and caregivers. My areas of specialty include working with people who are experiencing depression and anxiety, treating trauma and stressor-related disorders including PTSD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and transitional stress and adjustment. I enjoy learning about parenting, attachment, and supporting individuals as they navigate the perinatal period. I value a person-centered and holistic approach to counseling, and utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed interventions, expressive art techniques, mindfulness, and strive to be culturally aware and sensitive. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family, gardening, music and crafts, foraging, and learning about nature.

Kristi Kuns, MA, LPCC, CCTP

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 16 years of work experience in the medical and mental health fields. My focus has been on providing grief therapy to adults. I specialize in grief and loss, end of life, aging, health anxiety, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I have completed training in EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and grief.

I am compassionate about helping those who have experienced loss. Loss can be a death, but also can be other losses individuals experience.  My soft spoken, kind personality can help others navigate their grief while providing a non-judgmental environment with a strength based and collaborative approach. My approach in therapy is typically providing a safe space where adults can share their grief stories.  I utilize the Four Tasks of Mourning, the Five Stages of Grief, CBT, and mindfulness to help those who have experienced a loss.

Many people I have worked with in grief therapy think they are alone, and that their grief isn’t normal.  I can help honor a person’s grief and assist them as they process their grief and loss. I have found it is important to establish a trusting relationship with those I work with.  I am there to walk along side of you as you grieve.

It has been important for me to remain active and engage in self-care as I have worked through loss in my life.  I have found self-care to be an integral part of the grieving process and encourage those I work with to focus on self-care. Outside of work, I enjoy getting out in nature for walks, hikes, snowshoeing, reading, painting, and spending time with my family, friends, and golden doodle.  My doodle makes me laugh every day.

I love being able to help those that are grieving find a balance in their lives as they navigate their grief.

Services Provided: Individual therapy (adults). Shana offers in-person and telehealth sessions.

Brian Clow, BA
Clinical Counseling Intern

I am a graduate trainee in the Master of Arts in Psychological Science program at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I graduated with a BA in English from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana in 2021. I worked as a technical writer for a medical start-up helping people reduce their alcohol consumption before changing career paths and pursuing psychology. Ultimately, I plan to become a clinical psychologist and conduct research and treatment for an array of mental health concerns.

My passion for this work comes from an immutable desire to understand and improve the human condition. I love connecting with people in the therapy room, helping them interpret and craft the story of their lives. To that end, assessments are exceptional tools, and I love administering them and analyzing the in-depth snapshots they can provide.

Outside of work, I’m usually at school, but I have many interests to fill the brief moments in between. To name a few, I love fly fishing, cross-country skiing, reading, writing, playing volleyball, and learning jiu-jitsu.

Services Provided:  Individual therapy (Ages 18+); Psychological Evaluations (under supervision). Brian offers in-person and telehealth sessions.
